Canada set to begin legal consumption of recreational marijuana, will the US follow the trend?

Canada is expected to become the second country in the world after Uruguay to legalize the consumption of recreational marijuana this October. The Cannabis Act, approved by the Canadian Senate on June 21, controls the growth, distribution and sale of marijuana for recreational purposes. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expects everything to be in place for marijuana consumption to begin this upcoming October 17 in order keep his campaign promise.
Canada is the first G-7 country to legalize recreational marijuana, but Russia strongly opposes the decision to legalize marijuana stating that it is a   “breach” of its “international legal obligations.”
Voters in most developed countries have shown a tendency to override trafficking and legalization of cannabis. The United States will be legally entitled to have the greatest potential in the cannabis market. So it is worth asking “will the US follow the trend?”
